Understanding Trezor Bridge® — What It Is and Why v25.11.3 Matters
In the world of cryptocurrency hardware wallets, secure communication between your physical device and the wallet software on your computer is critical. Trezor Bridge® is a small, system-level background application that enables your Trezor Suite (or other compatible desktop apps) to communicate with your physical Trezor hardware wallet — without exposing your private keys to the internet or unsafe environments.
What Trezor Bridge Does
Trezor Bridge acts as a local “mediator”: when you plug in your Trezor wallet via USB, Trezor Bridge runs as a service on your computer and listens on a local interface for communication from wallet software. The software sends commands — request balance, sign transaction, manage accounts — to Bridge, which relays them to your hardware wallet over USB. Responses from the device (e.g., signed transactions) are then sent back to the software. Crucially, private keys and sensitive operations remain exclusively on the hardware device.
